What I did last week Friday - Sunday
I unfortunately was unable to study SwiftUI. A lot of context switching happened which really took more of my energy than I was expecting. It really was one of those days. I did learn about some interesting stuff though
- Had a discussion with a
Casprine Assempah
about CRDTs and before, I would hear the term being used but I made no sense to me whatsoever. I mean what’s the whole point of doing that and how does the technology even work because if data is going to be eventually be in the server then where does local storage come in play and how does it relate with syncing information? That was a huge blocker to me in relation to understanding how the whole thing works but then I came across electric-sql and this visualization of the process cleared it up for me instantly!. I do believe this is something I would like to take a poke at
Today
- Started my day with a morning walk as always. More Alan Watts and today’s talk was about trusting the universe. A touching point that was made today was that the more you try to act to act like God, which in this case is trying to control the outcome of everything, which is the basis of anxiety, you exert a ton of energy whereas when you let go of all that, you actually gain all the energy and can now use that to work towards doing the absolute best you can and letting nature figure it out. The lesson here would be that the more you give out, the more you gain.
Upcoming
- Picking up on SwiftUI Day 74. I have a lot more studying to do that usual since I wasn’t able to do that on Friday.
- Doing more reading on CRDTs and how they work. Might make an attempt with Go.
- Today I start working on the iOS app for Mande with
Isaac Oppong
. This would be my first big SwiftUI project but what’s life withough a challenge. Really glad this gets to happen at this time because having a mobile app for this project, I believe would be a huge boost to retention since user engagement can be increased with the use of widgets, push notifications and maybe gamification - Picking a project to present at RC on Thursday. I’m stuck between a couple of options really
